Lupus in Fabula

Concert in theatre form for Chamber Sextet, Small Children Orchestra, narrator and two dancers.

Music by Russian authors
Fables by L. Tolstoj Text M. La Torre
Duration 50 - 60 minutes
Recommended for: children 4-12 years of age, accompanied by families or schools.

The show’s origin is in the interest for the Russian culture of the Nineteenth century: Tolstoj's fables, written by an elementary teacher who educated rustic children with tales, fables and descriptions of natural phenomena and the music of the great Masters of Russian music, such as Ciajkovskij and others. The narrator is the woolf, a metamorphosis of Tolstoj. Commenting the fables describing him as an evil creature, he shows children the true nature of his instincts and describes the wrongs he receives from men. He asks and obtains the audience’s solidarity, becoming a funny and convincing teacher of life.

The Narrator addresses the baby performers and the audience, supported by “his” orchestra with which he speaks and by the two dancers who mime and accompany his actions. Tolstoj’s fables are tied together and presented with a text which has been expressely written in a brilliant key.
