Donkey's blues
Jazz saved by children
Music Blues e Jazz
Text by Gianni Silano
Duration 50 - 60 minutes
Recommended for: children 4-12 years of age, accompanied by families or schools.
A travel in history of Jazz. It all begins with the notes of the "Pink Panther", performed by very young musicians, then we enter into the heart of a big band, where trumpet, sax, piano, double bass, guitar and drums improvise and reveal all the secrets of jazz to young and adult listeners.
Jazz and the Donkey
Like donkeys, Jazz is risking extinction. The parallel may seem risky, but if we consider its ever tightening niche of audience, we cannot hazard optimistical forecasts regarding its state of health. The objective of this concert-show is the reaffirmation or the rehabilitation of one of the most fascinationg musical and cultural adventures of human kind. Let’s start from the beginning, that is from children.
We leave to the swing sextet led by Alessandro Bonanno and to Gianni Silano the hard task to lead the young audience through an involving travel among blues and tales, groove and improvisation, surprises and coups de theatre. The show, performed strictly live, can count upon the participation of the best jazz performers of the moment, torn from smoky venues and launched despite themselves in a joyful and chattering arena. The donkey expresses his thanks.
